Gold Coast Airport Precinct to welcome new hotel
The Gold Coast Airport Precinct is to see the development of a four-star $50 million-dollar hotel, complementing the new terminal extension currently underway, according to Noel Robinson, Managing Director and CEO of NRA Collaborative Lab.
Queensland Airports Ltd board was impressed by the high quality of design and landscaped outcome proposed for the project, which were determining factors in the selection process.
The project will commence early May 2018 immediately following the Commonwealth Games completion.
The new hotel will feature a rooftop bar with views over the runway and across to Coolangatta Beach.
The majority of the 192 rooms will have ocean views and the hotel will contain resort features, set in lush subtropical landscape.
A convention space for 150 people will be included in the project in addition to a separate rooftop function area for 100 people. A rooftop gymnasium will overlook the beach and have views south to Byron Bay.
A ground floor indoor/outdoor restaurant will open onto a 25-meter resort style lap pool. The basement will contain 80 carparks for patrons.
Queensland Airports are pleased with the outcome of the tender and the quality of the design that has been agreed to, and are looking forward to the asset being delivered and operated to complement the growing international profile of the airport.
The hotel is expected for completion in August 2019.
