Throwback Thursday: This week we look back to the design of the Sydney on Sydney Apartments in New Farm, Brisbane. Located in iconic Sydney Street, across from the thriving recreational and cultural hub of New Farm Park, these apartments have everything at their doorstep. The Powerhouse Brisbane, Queensland’s home for contemporary culture, a magnificent power station of the 1920s reborn as an arts centre on the Brisbane River is nearby, as is James Street’s popular dining and recreation precinct. This location is also nearby to the Jan Power Markets, Brisbane’s picturesque river walks, and has easy access to CityCat terminal and popular bus routes to the CBD.
The Sydney Street Apartments exhibit a contemporary and eclectic mix of materials and textures drawn from the mixture of architectural styles which are found in its inner city New Farm context. The apartments draw upon the vernacular elements of the local cottages, resulting in pop-up roof forms and rhythmic facades elements.
This boutique development for Kenlynn Properties consisting of 5 x 7, 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments, which capture an abundance of natural light, with ample space for executive living. Expansive outdoor living spaces attached to each dwelling provides residents with a sense of privacy whilst enjoying connection to the vibrant inner-city street atmosphere, as well as upper level views to the city skyline and New Farm Park beyond.
